Sport Team Management Application

Problem

Keeping track of recreation team sport details such as player information, schedules, game location or updates can be time consuming for administrators, coaches, players and parents of youth players.

There are a number of sport team management applications on the market but none contain all features that users are looking for.

Solution

Create a prototype for a sports team management application that can be downloaded on a smartphone through Google Play for Android devices and the App Store for Apple devices.

The functionality for the application includes:

  • User registration

  • Authenticated sign-in

  • Ability to add and view practice/game schedule information including date, time, location and opponent information depending on permissions

  • Ability to indicate and check player availability for practices and team games

  • Ability to synchronize the application calendar with other personal calendars

  • Ability to send and view team messages

  • Ability to view team rosters

  • Ability to share and view team photos

  • Ability to see live game scores

  • Ability to update user controls such as display name, email and other account related items such as privacy, alerts or preferred means of communication

  • Ability to cancel account

Screenflows

Created a screen flow to provide the overall architecture of the application and a general understanding of how users navigate through the app from launch to close.

Wireframes

Using the screen flow, created wireframes to outline the content hierarchy and content architecture for each screen with annotations of functionality.

Prototype

Result

The final prototype was produced with all functionality outlined in the project brief.

The main sections of the application include:

  • Team calendar

  • Team roster

  • Team messaging

  • Team photos

Using the wireframes as a base, created an interactive prototype to visually represent navigation, organization structure, and the application’s interactivity.
